Liatris Aspera - Button Blazing Star– MN Native
Liatris Aspera - Button Blazing Star– MN Native
Another Monarch Butterfly favorite! This nectar-rich plant gets covered with migrating Monarchs in the late summer and fall. It is not uncommon to count 5+ monarchs on a single plant.
Bursts of purple flowers cover stalks that can reach 3-4 ft tall. A low maintenance, hearty native plant.
Very similar to Liatris Ligulistylis. What's the difference? Liatris aspera, has flower heads that are stalkless, and a preference for drier conditions. Liatris ligulistylis has stalked flower heads, floral bracts that are flattened and a preference for moister sites. We say, get both! Give the Monarch's some variety.
