Liatris punctata - Dotted Blazing Star- MN Native
Like all of the Liatris types, Liatris punctata is an excellent pollinator plant that is attractive to both birds and butterflies.
What makes this different from other Liatris varieties? This one is more compact and densely packed and reaches only 1-2' in height; this variety also prefers well-drained, sandy soils. A long taproot makes this the most drought-tolerant of the Liatris varieties. A bushier plant is formed if it is cut back or mowed during the growing season.
